Yep, that's what I love about haikus. They're so tight, you can only capture moments, and you have to make that moment say volumes. Very challenging.

I've never gotten the hang of them either. This is my first one, and I was nervous about posting it. Haikus are so completely Japanese, encompassing concepts and philosophies of writing that are diametrically opposed to the ones used in Western writing, that it doesn't really feel right to even attempt one in English. But you know Muses. This one hit me and I had to write it down. But I don't intend to make a habit of it. I may be arrogant, but I'm not that arrogant, lol!

The art comes from mucun Tons of lovely hobbit art on her lj, and she allows anyone and everyone to use it freely. Pretty damn rare for a Japan fan. She really rocks!

Me again. Ehm, D_E already found the story, through a tip by someone else. And what's even worse: I've already read it and left a comment - and it must have slipped my mind. O_o *blushes* *bows head in shame* How could I have forgotten such an amazing, HOT story!! I'll tell you how: it's my swiss cheese of a brain! And here I am again. Sorry for the overload. ;) That Japanese artwork site you link to on 'The Taste of Salt', where you also got the background image for your site, how do I view the art? I can't seem to find a link that works, and I really want to see all the pieces! Did you get your icon from there as well? Or is that one by mucun? They're all so gorgeous!!

Yeah, that link is incorrect. This is the URL for her page: http://homepage2.nifty.com/berucha/artandfic.htm Click on the links in the left-hand column of the box, and you'll get her stuff. She's mostly a writer, but her fics have illustrations. The one on my site is in there. She does lovely work.

The one in my icon is by mucun, who is a rare gem in that she doesn't get all pissy about people posting her stuff.

Thanks for that link! Her artwork is really amazingly beautiful! Do you think I could ask her if I could use some of her pieces to make into icons? I'm pretty sure I've seen some of them about. I really want a romantic, erotic Sam/Frodo icon, and some of her pieces would be great for that. But I'd never use them without her permission!!
