No problem. :D I did have to look it up online--I don't really use good ol' pi-r-squared in normal life. But it sounds right, so maybe high school geometry did stick a little in my head.
Yeah, I hadn't run the numbers before, so I'm surprised they're that similar. Nonetheless, the brownies should be fine. The interesting difference could be in the amount of edge you get, which can be good to know, since people get passionate about edge brownies vs. middle brownies. (I like the gooey middle ones myself.)
The 8" square will give you 32" of edges, while for the circle...checking that formula... pi x 9" = 28.27", so less edge and more middle (yay!) for round pans. Hmm, I should start using round pans for my brownies!
