So, I am majorly bummed tonight...

This post is locked to a very small group of friends that I trust, because I want to cry a little and I don't want to do it in front of everybody.

I lost my job today.

Yeah, it was a temp job, and it was going to end anyway, but it was still really disappointing and upsetting. It all happened because of a stupid accident and rules that couldn't get bent, and we all know how that goes. I'd brought a disc with some Word files on it that I wanted to read, and unbeknownst to me, the disc had a virus on it. The computer caught it and cleaned the virus before it could do anything, but the machines over there are on a big network, and Systems saw it happen. One of their guys came down and asked for the disc, and I gave it to him, no problem. But then later this afternoon I got a call from the agency, and I'm out.

I went to talk to the head supervisor guy, and he was really nice about it, even apologized to me. But it seems it had gone all the way to District Management, and the word came down from there. He told me they know perfectly well that everybody at the company uses the computers for personal stuff even though they aren't supposed to, and they look the other way about it. But when something like a virus happens, where their attention gets drawn to it, EHHHHH. No go. He assured me that this event wouldn't influence their decision about me getting a permanent job there, as my record with the company is "exceptional". (I took the test for the job yesterday and aced it.) He told me he thought I was a great worker, and was sorry this had happened, but he couldn't do anything about it.

So I'm totally fucking bummed right now. I'm trying to be philosophical about it, but it's hard. It's been a long time since I had a job I liked so much, and there are people there I consider my friends, and that's hard to let go of. They're bummed, too, and I got a lot of good strokes from them about it. (Gods, that sounds porny.) But the upshot is that I'm out, and once again I'm scared about my situation and where I'm going to find work.

Life fucking sucks.

But at least when I came home, Casey was here to greet me. It really helps to have her here. If this had happened two months ago, I'd be a wreck right now.

So is there still a chance that they would hire you permanently? I hate that this happened, but the fact that they let you go the DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING and right before the holidays? Not cool. I'm online if you want to talk. *hugs you tight*

Thank you sweetie! I'm feeling a bit better about it today. It's such a bummer, but like I said, it was going to end anyway. It's just a really crappy time to have this happen. But with luck, I'll get something else in the next week or two, and I'll be on my feet again.
