The road through his eyes is packed dirt, a line stretching through miles of golden waves, an endless windswept vista. Yet even in all that ardent emptiness, trees press dark around me, branches and roots interlacing. They're not there when I turn around.

I just got around to seeing that last night. GodDAMN. It's a fucking weird movie - I'm still not sure just what the hell happened in it - but Josh's performance was amazing, if for nothing else, for that scene of him getting beat near to death with a baseball bat. How often do you see somebody in the movies get beaten and have it happen exactly as it would in real life? This is a rare thing, and it felt very real. I loved the way it echoed forward, too, in things like his posture when he slept, or the way he stretched his shoulder. And the madhouse scene, and his flashbacks and general twitchiness and pain. Jesus, he's good.

I just wish the films he participates in weren't quite so damn weird. More than once I've had to stop watching one of his movies, thinking nope, not for me, thanks. Guess I'm more pedestrian in my tastes than I'd care to admit, LOL.

P.S. How much you wanna bet the idea for that movie started with those sculptures, and just went from there?

By the by, I have a seriously vicious crossover bunny chewing on my ankle at the moment. Came completely out of nowhere and won't leave me alone. ARGH.

Holy shit, do it! H&V did a crossover between him and Elijah's character in Flipper, the same challenge I wrote snake for. I love his character so much. I actually enjoyed the film, but there was one scene I still flinch at, but I won't say in case you've seen the cut version.

I love him in that film. So dark and broken and haunted and fucking beautiful. The beating & bite still get me. So many beautiful near naked shots of him too. If I can repeatedly stand to watch 3 fucking hours of shitty PH for him, I can watch ICWTR. Repeatedly.

Heehee. I am wrestling with it, trying to figure out just what the story is that comes with the central idea. I hope it'll reveal itself, because it's a really fucking interesting bit I haven't seen done before.

How would I know if I have the cut version? I downloaded the one I have off the web. I'm thinking about restarting my Netflix now that I have a tiny bit of money coming in, and will look to see if they've got the DVD. Is there something deeply traumatic that got excised? Honestly, I can't imagine being freaked out by anything worse, the damn thing is just so creepy to begin with.

I still maintain that PH is utterly wonderful with the boys' commentary on. I gotta get another copy of that. Cracked my shit UP.

Oh, and thanks for the picture. RAWR. And you can't even tell it's blood all over him. Mmmm...

If there was a scene with a hammer and another scene with a tramp with a dog you've seen the full version. I got my DVD on Amazon, but it might be import so check the region.

Oh, the hammer. FUCK ME. That guy was psycho. I mean, wouldn't shooting the guy in a few places be enough? I'm surprised he didn't go to town with a blowtorch and a pair of pliers, get all medieval on his ass, for fuck's sake.

That moment in your icon was fucking heartbreaking, by the way. All that silence in his portrayal of madness was beautiful, how nearly all of it was internal. It made me question his sanity through the entire film, frankly. Awesomely good work.

I don't remember the tramp with the dog, though.
