It's a tropical fruit that only comes round in November and December. The texture is much like pineapple, and though the taste is similar, it's more watery and only a little sweet. That's why I sprinkled them with a little sugar, to bring the taste out a bit more. You have to be sure they're completely ripe (gold all over) because if they're even a little green, they have a sour taste that isn't pleasant.
