A question for you savvy people

What program can I use to make MP3's off of CD's? I've got Nero and Roxio, but I couldn't find an option to do that with either of those. If any of you know of an option on either of those programs for this, or which other program would be good for it, please let me know. I have a ton of lovely music I'd like to share with folks!


ETA: OK, I have some answers to this question. Now I'd like to ask you all: if I post music from my collection, would people prefer MP3's or .wma files? Looks like I can do either. :)

I've just started doing that myself and I use Windows Media Player. It turns them into .wma files which I believe are smaller in size than mp3's. All I have to do is put my cd into the cd/dvd drive and a window pops up asking do I want to play the cd or record it and what programme do i want to use. I select "copy music from cd using windows media player" and it opens the programme and either starts copying them straight away or i just press the red 'record' button. You might need to set up a folder first for the songs to be copied to so the programme knows where to put them...and from there I just upload them using yousendit.com I hope that's of some help to you! :)

Thanks! If I can't find a way to make MP3's, then I'll make wma's. Most people seem to prefer MP3's, which is why I'm trying to find a way to make those. :)

Yeah that's what I was thinking when I first started doing them...and my sister told me should could fit more .wma files on her mp3 player...I haven't had anyone complain about the format yet...

But I just had a quick look at our Nero for you...once you open it it has a menu you can choose from. If you highlight the musical note symbol it gives you the choice of copying a cd there...so if you try it that way you might be able to get an mp3 made...good luck!
