Hi everyone!

I'd like to introduce you to a wonderful Youtube channel called Townsends. It's run by Jon Townsend, a historial re-enactor. It's all about life, and mostly food, in the 1700's. Fantastic recipes, lots of great info on life in the 18th century, and Jon, who is truly a lovely narrator: genial, gentle, enthusiastic. I've made several of the recipes and they are delicious as well as being interesting. This is a great channel for hobbit writers, as it gives you a great view of life around the time (maybe a bit before) that parallels the level of development, more or less, of the Shire. The channel has been running for about 10 years, I think, with an episode around every 1-2 weeks, so there are LOADS of things to watch! Please check it out, and please pimp the channel to other hobbity folks. I'm sure you'll like it and will want to watch it further.

Here are a couple of their vids to start your off:

Here's a recipe Sam would absolutely have known how to make:

And a recipe for the holiday table. Frodo and Bilbo would have enjoyed this at Yule!

And now, a reminder: I still have a lot of hobbity stuff on my sale page. If you're looking for gifts for hobbity friends, please take a look! And please let other people know it's there!

Enjoy!

Hey, everyone!

Just a reminder that my Sale Post is still active and full of neat stuff. If you're looking for fannish gifts or just cool stuff to own, please take a look!

I add stuff to the post from time to time, and will be alerting when there's new stuff on there. Am looking to get money to start a fund to get the fuck out of here.

So please take a look and spread the word to anyone you know who might be looking for LOTR stuff or anything else that's there.

Hi, everyone!

It's that time of year again, when everyone's looking for gifts and I'm trying desperately to keep the lights on...

Please take a look at my selling page and see if anything there interests you. I've reduced all my prices by 25% (yay). I've got more items (a few fandom but mostly not, so good gifts for your non-fan friends!). I'm going to post this week, so I'll be putting up alerts letting you know what I've got. But here's a quickie rundown in case you want to ask about any of them:

An autographed copy of Sean Astin's book There and Back Again (paperback).

Matched set of the ORIGINAL Star Trek Concordances. By "original", I mean the hand-collated, brass-tacked edition that was put together by a bunch of crazed ST fans at Bjo Trimble's house back in the 70's. YEAH, THEY'RE THAT OLD. Lovely work of fannish love, from back when it was REALLY FREAKING HARD to be a fan. This is a serious nostalgia item. (They're not in mint condition, but so rare I don't think I've ever seen another one, so I'm contemplating how much I want for them. Make suggestions!)

A beautiful ceramic vase from Japan, with a faux basket-weave design. It's from the 1940's, I'm told, and in absolutely great condition.

A Motorola modem with cable. I was forced by AT&T to get their enormous awful modem, so this little guy is available. Worked fine the last time I used it.

Lovely turquoise, amethyst and brass bead necklace from the 1920's.

Red silk scarf from the 1940's. Gorgeous condition and amazingly intense color.

A set of 4 totally cute country-style ceramic cookie stamps. (You'd use after you've rolled and cut out your cookies, to put neat little designs into them.)

A black long-sleeved top from India, run through with gold threads and decorated with little brass bells and bits of mirror.

A long-sleeved turquoise colored embroidered top from Mexico, really soft yummy fabric.

That infamous Jack Sparrow shirt. (Never wore it again, I was so mortified, lol!)

A pair of black leather pants I have not been able to wear for longer than I care to think. GREAT condition, aside from a couple of small faults that were there when I bought them.

That's it for now. I'll be posting pics of these things in the next day or two, or if you're interested I can email them to you.

Thanks again for your attention! *big hugs*

Hi, folks!

I've added a couple of items to my selling post again. Today I've got two page-a-day LOTR calendars here, Verlyn Flieger's scholarly Tolkien book, Splintered Light here, and for those of you into classic films, a lovely photobook from Japan all about that beautiful lady, Audrey Hepburn here. (Look to the bottom of the section at each link for the items.)

Take a look if you're interested, and please pass the links to anyone you know who might want to see, as well. I'll be posting more tomorrow. Thanks all!

Hey, everyone!

Today I've added some LOTR movie books to my selling page. These are all in brand new condition. I bought them, put them on my shelf, and they've been there ever since. I don't think I even opened some of them!

The prices vary from $20 (for a big hardback) to $8.50. Please take a look and see if any of them would go well in your collections. They're over here. And please let others know about my sale too. I really need the exposure, thanks!

I'll be adding more stuff tomorrow!

Hi, everyone!

I've added a few more items to my selling post - a couple of posters and magazines from Japan, of Elijah, Orlando, and the LOTR cast, and the issue of Flaunt Magazine that featured Elijah. These are all in wonderful condition and quite gorgeous. I'll be putting them up on eBay tomorrow evening, so take a look now and snag them if you like.

I've pinned my selling post to the top of my LJ, so if you want to see these lovely things, just go to my main page and look at the post - the new items are under the cut marked "Actor Items".

*hugs*

Hi, everyone!

Today and tomorrow I'll be putting up some beautiful prints by German artist Sulamith Wulfing, at eBay. She did fantasy/fairy tale illustrations in a delicate Art Deco influenced style. Here and here are the first two I've put up at eBay. If you're interested in beautiful fantasy art, please take a look at them and tell me if the style appeals to you. If so, I'll revise my selling post to include the rest of the prints as I put them up, and you'll be able to get any of them from me direct from me if you like. (There are some Christmas images, and a couple from Anderson's "The Little Mermaid", as well as other lovely things.) I will offer these prints to my LJ friends for $7.50. :)

Hi, everyone!

I'm updating my selling post with two items today: an LOTR Lorien mallorn cloak pin, and a really cute Mickey Mouse tank top. The pin is an original sterling silver piece, the kind that came out when the films debuted (not one of the cheap knockoffs you see around), meant to be worn with the beautiful elven cloaks. The tank tap is a soft gray material, with a glittery Mickey Mouse print. If you're interested, take a look at my post!

I'm close to making my goal, so I'm hoping you'll spread the word if you haven't already. Have a good evening, everyone!

Today I've got a really cute little item. It's a set of 6 LOTR postcards designed by a Japanese fan artist. (I think the artist is Little Ones.) They were originally bound together as a calendar, each postcard having a little calendar strip at the top with two months in it. The backs are printed with the usual postcard separations for text and address, and the calendar strips can be cut off so the card can be mailed. They are sweet and funny pics of hobbits and the Fellowship. If you're interested, please take a look over at my selling post. They're in the section "Doujinshi and other fanart".

Humble thanks

Some kind soul in Italy - whose name I do not recognize - sent me a very generous gift today. Whoever you are, thank you SO SO much. You've enabled me to keep my lights on for another month, and maybe start putting away a little money for a new pair of glasses. (Haven't had a new pair since 2005, and I'm squinting a lot these days.) *BIG HUG*

I suppose this is as good a place as any to talk about something I haven't yet - goals. In selling my items, I'm reaching for a goal of $500 this holiday season, which will pay my bills through the winter, when energy rates get so high. It will also enable me to put aside whatever other money I can get hold of in other ways, towards some things I've had to put off for a long while (like those glasses). Because of the interest and generosity of my friends here, I'm well on the way to making that goal, so I'm terribly grateful, and thankful to have such kind and wonderful friends. (I hope to make my goal soon, either here or at eBay.) Love to all of you!

'Night!

I've updated again, with three large-format portrait photos of Frodo. These were put out by New Line Pictures at the time of FOTR and 2T. 10"x15", big and beautiful!

Hi!

Today I'm updating my selling post with a collection of Oscar ads for LOTR, from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. These were trade industry journal -only ads, which appeared for one day each, back when the films were being considered for Oscars. I've just added a group of 8½"x11" ads (under the section "LOTR Oscar Ads") and will be adding a bigger group of 11"x14" ads - those will be even more spectacular. :)

So take a look and see if there's anything you like. And pimp this addition if you can, because there's some really gorgeous there, and more on its way. (FYI, this icon is from one of the ads.)

I've updated my selling post with some STAR TREK t-shirts. They're from Teefury, a company that designs awesome fandom shirts in limited editions. I got these just after the first new ST film opened, in 2009. They've been sealed up tight in their mailing wrapper until just a few days ago, when I opened it up to photograph them. They are thus in mint, never-worn condition.

If you're not into Star Trek but know someone who is, please let them know these great shirts are available. :)

I've posted two interesting little collectible items at my selling post. They're a small metal penny bank and pencil holder. I got them at ORC back in the day, and they're really cute. The bank is a Legolas item, and the pencil holder is Legolas & Gimli (or Legolas/Gimli, if that's your idea of a good time.)

More goodies!

I've posted pics of 27 doujinshi for sale. These are Japanese fan comics, drawn and produced by wonderful fan artists in that country. We have nothing like them here in the States! The ones I have are mostly F/S, with a couple of other pairings like M/P, F/A, A/B, and a couple of gen ones, too. They're all awfully cute, and would make unusual gifts as well.

You can find them at my selling post here.

Please let people who might be interested know, and if you know of any comms where you can pimp this, please do.
