Hey, everybody! Having a boring evening? Well, never fear, for I come bearing the gift of:
STAR TREK WANK!
Cue theme music: tata TA TA TA TA TAAA tata TATA...
"Old-timer" gets all huffy at newbie ST fans. (Though how she can claim old-timer status when she' only 27 fucking years old herself, I don't know.) Shakes her entitlement cane at the kids who want to write Spock/Uhura, and despite making several PRONOUNCEMENTS about what is and isn't "cannon", goes on to claim that she and her fellow fans are "not like the Harry Potter fandom".
Oh yeah? You sure about that, Sparky?

To celebrate the re-launch of my earliest fandom, a vicious little bon mot from T. Jonesy and Killa:
Closer
Star Trek + Nine Inch Nails = FTW!
I posted this a couple of years ago, and just came across it again. It's really one of the best editing jobs I've ever seen on a music video. Not only does it show off a freakin' encyclopedic knowledge of ST:TOS, the fiddling they did with the image - blurring, warping and breaking some shots, and the sepia tone of the piece - perfectly recall the look of those ultra-old, skeezy 8mm porn film reels from the mid-20th century. It's scrumptiously sleazy!
Also, another little detail that I love: If you look closely, you'll see that every shot in the piece is taken from the original series, except for five or six very brief takes of sexually suggestive stuff (crotch shot, hands on naked thighs, etc.) HOWEVER, those shots are only used in the context of the fantasy images in Kirk and Spock's heads. (In the context of the video, of course.) Another videomaker might have used those shots as if they were from the series, which would have been cheating, in my opinion. But TJ&K kept it honest. And it makes the video that much more smokin' hot!

"I agree," she said. "Perhaps we'll see an example later." He nodded, and as always, his gravity charmed her into a smile. But her heart nearly stopped when, for the first time, he slowly smiled back.
It was like a squall rising suddenly in her. Is this a new feeling? she asked herself, the complexity of it twisting her insides with love and pain and...fear. Does every woman come to this, or is it mine alone? His face swam before her for a moment, her tears rising until she carefully pushed them back down. Leaning forward, she placed a tiny kiss on that treasured smile, and then let the moment go, because she must.
Reluctantly, Amanda touched her fingers to her little son's tentatively stretched lips. "Spock," she began gently, "you must not do that..."
